To inspire, encourage, and support survivors of ALL cancers to triumph over the disease.

Our Mission

Our mission is to use dragon boating to help survivors paddle for wellness, mental and physical health. 

Our Strategy

We accomplish our mission and vision with competitive dragon boat teams of survivors, and friends and family members of survivors, who paddle for a common goal.  We use teams of volunteers, supporters and sponsors to help improve the quality of life for our team through wellness, knowledge, education and friendship.

Healing Dragons is a non-profit organization.  We practice in Cornelius, NC and compete in regional, national and international competitions.  We've competed in races in:

• Charlotte, NC
• Lake Lure, NC
• Charleston, SC
• Richmond, VA
• Chattanooga, TN
• Gainesville, GA
• Orlando, FL

Our competitive race teams consist of cancer survivors, a ladies team and a mixed team of men and women, depending on the race events for the year. 

We practice and compete in a dragon boat. A dragon boat is a very long and narrow canoe-style, human-powered boat with 20 paddlers, a steerer and a drummer. 

Our coaching team helps to develop skill in anyone who supports our mission, has a passion for learning and is ready to have fun and enjoy the outdoors.

If you're ready to try a new sport, make new friends and want to see how you can make a difference in the lives of survivors, and friends and family members of survivors, come visit us on the water.

When:

We practice Saturday mornings, Late March/Early April through October.  Practices are 1 to 1-1/2 hours. We accept new members throughout the season.

Where:

Cornelius, North Carolina. Ramsey Creek Park (Lake Norman).

What to Bring/Wear:

• Comfortable Clothes (Quick dry or dri-fit fabric is recommended but not required.  You may get a little wet.)
• Sunscreen, hat, visor, sunglasses, lip balm
• Shoes (Closed toe, water shoes are optimal.)
• Towel or dry clothes for your ride home.
• Bottle of water

Note:

We provide the boat, paddles and personal flotation devices (PFDs).
